Tactical Christianity interviewed the up-and-coming musician AlphaChild about his background and budding career in Christian rap and hip hop music.
Tactical Christianity: You came to the US from Ghana. Tell us a little bit about your background.
AlphaChild: I was born in Accra, Ghana, where I lived for about eighteen years. My mom and siblings were already in the U.S., and I emigrated to the U.S to be with my parents and siblings in 2016.
Tactical Christianity: Your songs are mixtapes/covers for which you write the lyrics, and your musical influences are Lecrae, Trip Lee, Kari Jobe. How would you describe your own style?
AlphaChild: My style of music is Christian rap/hip hop. I love "hip hop" beats and that’s the kind of sound I use in the making of all my Christian music.
Tactical Christianity: When did you start singing – before or after you became a Christian?
AlphaChild: I started doing my Christian music after I was saved by Christ Jesus. I could not sing or rap, but enjoyed making music. And after sincere prayers to the Lord, His anointing moved me and I began preaching His word through music.
Tactical Christianity: What are some of the goals of your musical career?
AlphaChild: I’m working on more releases, and also planning on making an album. With support and sponsorship I hope to be able to satisfy my musical gift to please the Lord. I look forward to seeing lives saved, transformed, and inspired through my music, and also to working with all Christians out there to spread the truth about Christ.
Tactical Christianity: Do you have specific goals you are trying to accomplish in helping the Christians who listen to your music – do you sing to teach? To inspire? What do you aim for?
AlphaChild: Yes, I sing to teach people about who Christ is, what He did for us, and to inspire them never to give up and to focus on Christ only. Apart from my music, I have goals of reaching out to people to preach His word, wherever, or to whoever gives me the opportunity: -To spread God's word -To speak the truth about God -To get souls saved for Christ and lead them to Christ -To encourage and inspire people out there.
